The pictures of hail, the storm clouds and rainbows were all taken from the porch, deck or grounds of Sanctuary while we were at camp.
One of two hail storms. The first had pea size hail and the scond had golf ball size hail. Quite a scene in a room filled with windows . After each storm we were blessed to see a double rainbow. How often do people get the opportunity to see a double rainbow and we saw not one but TWO. It was amazingly beautiful. The pictures of the hail and the better pictures of the rainbows were taken by Brother David Bock. I took the other ones. They were simply too tempting. It really does look like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, especially to the farmer who already has his hay baled.
This is taken at Pierre, South Dakota, the State Capital. It was about to rain so we didn't get to take pictures at the lake. The grounds are beautiful. These pictures were taken on our way to Family Kamp.
Let us pause for 15 minutes or better to take in the majesty of road construction unattended. Since South Dakota has only 3 seasons (July, August, and Winter) they make hay while the sunshines and road construction was a frequent event. They have miles and miles of good roads but I guess they are good because they keep taking them down to dirt and building them back up. It became funny after an understated sign saying "bump" was the only warning to loosing all pavement and hitting down onto rubboard gravel. South Dakota has their tax dollars at work.
See the speck of a building on the horizon? That is our destination. It is the Moreau River Sanctuary (We would call it a lodge.). It over looks the Moreau River but has higher plains on either side of it so you cannot see the river from here. You can easily see 35 miles and 15 miles seems a stone throw away.
South Dakota State Flower on the side of the road.
Yes, after Kamp, we ventured the 41 miles and entered North Dakota - Yes, we have been to the edge and back. I took over 400 pictures in the 41 miles between Isabel, South Dakota and 90th Street in North Dakota. Beautiful country, wide open spaces, a person can even take pictures while traveling the speed limit cause there are no obstacles to hinder the view.
The Church of God, Isabel, South Dakota. The Isabel Church also serves as the Regional Headquarters Church. Sister Shirley Bock serves as pastor.
A flat tire didn't occur until after we arrived at Santuary. Which was nice cause there was NO cell phone service after we left I-90 until Pierre and then again no service after we left Pierre.
Water in South Dakota is very, very, blue. It is so beautiful. This was taken on our trip back to Souix Falls with Sister Irma. Time to say good-bye to South Dakota and Hello to Iowa. We had a GREAT time and I have lots and lots of pictures. Stop by and I'll share with you my slide shows. Love and prayers to all the folks of the GREAT PLAINS REGION.
